Drifter Without a Cause...

Gary Michael Hilton was an aging drifter in search of the quintessential get rich quick scheme. In his head he saw credit cards, PIN numbers, and hard cash falling to his lap, when he first laid glance on his hiker victim, Meredith Emerson. He abducted Emerson with ease and quickly conspired her murder by means of a tire iron. In a swift blow he took the tool to her head and afterwards decapitated the corpse to make the identification process more difficult. This crime was botched and the events following foiled his schemes. Every good criminal has a short period of hiding after his/her crime, or usually travels a long distance to provide a false alibi. This man even had the privilege of not having strong social connections with other people. He could have gotten away with had he not used her credit card on January 4th, 2007. He was arrested in suspicion of her abduction and soon revealed to them the location of her body. This man had the ambition and will, but lacked the craftsmanship of a true criminal. On a scale of 1 - 10, Hilton receives a 4.5, due to his sloppiness, lack of a true plan, his timing, having improper tools for the task, his willingness to give in to the police and to a great degree his impatience. This crime was merely the waste of a human soul.
